Karsu is going to take you into the world of jazz & blues with her concert called KARSU Plays ATLANTIC RECORDS ‘The Story of Ahmet Ertegün’ (with the support of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London) on May 30th at the Cadogan Hall.

A musical journey through the history of one of the great examples of Karsu: Ahmet Ertegün, founder of Atlantic Records.

Karsu dives into the music of Atlantic Records. Together with a very strong band she plays songs from the days when Atlantic Records just started. She takes the audience into the world of jazz and blues with world artists such as Ray Charles, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, The Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton and Cher.

What most do not know is that founder Ahmet Ertegün, like Karsu of Turkish origin, has been one of the founders of the sultry time of ‘black music’. As ambassador’s son, Ahmet was one of the first Turks in America and since the foundation of Atlantic Records in 1947 he pushed great talents forward.

With a tight trumpet, rhythmic drum and warm double bass, Karsu travels with her fine-tuned voice through the history of one of her great examples. From the Turkish roots to the vibrant jazz that we still know today.
