This ONLINE 4-week course by artist Nagihan Seymour will cover Ottoman tradition ‘Rumi’ patterns. The course starts with an overview of the history of “Rumi” (“Rumi” in Turkish, “Islimi” in Persian, “Nebati” in Arabic). The course will be given in small groups (max. 10 students) to preserve the classroom atmosphere whilst online.
In this interactive course, students will learn how to draw rumi motifs and apply principles of design in a composition. Students will receive hand-outs, weekly homework, live and emailed corrections throughout the duration of the course to track improvement. They will draw and paint different rumi motifs such as basic rumi, closed form rumi, rumi knots and rumi headings in classic Tezhip “Shamsa” form and will finish their work using traditional painting, outlining and illumination brush techniques.

- Gouache Paint (White, Black, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue)
- 3-0, 2-0 Paint Brush
