Sold by wandering street vendors or bakeries in every corner of the city, best eaten on the ferry, combined with a triangle of soft cheese and a cup of warm, red coloured Turkish tea, the humble simit is the archetypal symbol of Istanbul and of broader Turkish cuisine.
In this workshop, the award-winning chef and author of ‘Özlem’s Turkish Table: Recipes from My Homeland’, Özlem Warren will tell you the secrets to making this ring-shaped, doughy Turkish delight. Dipped in sweet molasses, coated in a sea of sesame seeds and baked to perfection, simit is best paired with a cup of Turkish tea! Join us at Yunus Emre Institute London to have the entire experience and have a taste of Istanbul’s streets in London!
