DESCRIPTION:[vc_btn title=”Click Here to Register” color=”turquoise” size=”lg” align=”left” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fsrebrenicaremembered.eventbrite.co.uk%2F|title:Click%20Here%20to%20Register|target:_blank”] \nSrebrenica Remembered: Lessons for Justice and Peace  \nDate: Thursday 11th July \nTime: 18:30 – 20:30 \nLocation: Yunus Emre Institute London\, 10 Maple Street\, W1T 5HA \n11th July is recognised as the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Srebrenica Genocide. On the 29th anniversary\, the Yunus Emre Institute London and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK present a special event to commemorate the victims and to reflect on the lessons learned from this tragic chapter in history. \nThe Srebrenica genocide\, which occurred in July 1995\, was the worst atrocity on European soil since World War II. Over 8\,000 Bosniak men and boys were systematically murdered by Bosnian Serb forces in the town of Srebrenica\, a designated UN safe area. This heinous act serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of hatred and intolerance. Our event seeks to honour the memory of those lost and to emphasise the importance of learning from the past to prevent such tragedies in the future. \nThe event will feature a distinguished panel that will provide a comprehensive exploration of the Srebrenica genocide\, its historical context\, and its enduring impact. Key discussion points will include recounting the events and aftermath of the Srebrenica genocide\, examining lessons for the international community and the Muslim Ummah\, discussing the impact on the global Muslim community\, and addressing strategies for preventing future genocides through education\, advocacy\, and cooperation. \nJoin us as we remember the past and commit to a future where such tragedies are not repeated. \nPanellists:  \n– Samra Koricic Mujkic\, Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London \n– Sami Hamdi\, Managing Director of International Interest \nModerator: \n– Meryem Nur Kucuk\, Researcher and Director of the and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK. \nThis event is a collaboration between the Yunus Emre Institute London and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK.
