SUMMARY:Muslim Europe | Book Signing & Talk with Tharik Hussain
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning author and journalist Tharik Hussain joins us a talk and book signing dedicated to his new work\, Muslim Europe.\n\n\n\nAward-winning author and journalist Tharik Hussain joins us on 9 December 2025 at 7:00 PM\, as part of the Arts & Culture Lecture Series at Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London\, for a talk and book signing dedicated to his new work\, Muslim Europe: A Journey in Search of a Fourteen Hundred Year History\, published by Viking (Penguin Random House). \nHussain’s latest book opens a long-overlooked chapter in European history.\nFor over 1\,400 years\, Muslims have shaped the intellectual\, cultural and political landscapes of the continent—yet their presence has often been marginalised or erased in dominant narratives. Through extensive travel across Sicily\, Malta\, Portugal\, Spain\, Cyprus and beyond\, Hussain reconstructs this forgotten story\, uncovering caliphal courts\, Sufi lodges\, scientific academies and thriving multicultural cities. \nThe talk will explore the key themes of the book\, including Europe’s early Muslim communities; contributions to science\, philosophy and the arts; the intertwined histories of Jewish\, Christian and Muslim populations; and the emergence of what Hussain describes as Europe’s “anti-Muslim DNA” through Crusade narratives and modern nation-building myths. \nThe session will conclude with an audience Q&A and a book signing. \n \nFor more information on the event\, please visit Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London’s Website: https://yeelondon.org.uk/ or email us at londra@yee.org.tr \n \nIMPORTANT NOTES: Please note that photography and filming will take place during this event for archiving\, marketing\, and promotional purposes. By attending\, you give your consent to Yunus Emre Institute to use such images and footage in related publications\, digital platforms\, and promotional materials.
