DESCRIPTION:İznik Ceramic Brooch | Floral or Geometric Design | Nagihan Seymour \nIn this hands-on workshop\, participants will explore traditional İznik (Çini) painting techniques by decorating a 5-cm square ceramic bisque with classic floral or geometric motifs. Led by Nagihan Seymour\, the session introduces participants to the visual language of İznik design through a focused and accessible format. Please check individual event details before booking. \nSuitable For \nNo prior ceramic experience needed. \nMaterials \nAll materials provided. \nLearning Objectives \nParticipants will: \n\nLearn the history and visual language of İznik patterns\nPractice brush control using traditional linework techniques\nUnderstand colour application using İznik underglaze (çini) paints\nCreate a finished ceramic design ready for glazing and firing\n\nAfter the Workshop \n\nPieces are glazed with a clear finish\nFired in kiln (approx. 1000–1050°C depending on materials)\nBrooch pins added\nCollection in approximately 2–3 weeks\n\nAbout the Instructor \nNagihan Seymour is a UK-based Turkish artist. Although trained as a materials engineer\, she has been deeply engaged with art since her university years. She began studying traditional arts privately in Istanbul in 2008 under Hanifi Dursun\, learning both the techniques and the discipline of the tradition. \nManuscript illumination became the central focus of her practice\, and over time she developed a distinctive style that combines sacred geometry with classical illumination\, bringing a contemporary interpretation to an ancient art form. Her first solo exhibition\, Reflection and Illumination\, was held at The Lightbox Gallery in Woking in March 2017 and became one of the gallery’s bestselling exhibitions. \nWebsite: www.nagihanseymour.comInstagram: @nagihanseymour \nWorkshop Policies and Guidelines \n\nThe workshop is primarily taught in English\, but some terminology may be in Turkish.
