After becoming acquainted with the materials\, you will be shown painting techniques in the Iznik style using traditional Iznik ceramic paints from Turkey. \nAssessment / Outcome: \nParticipants will receive feedback throughout the workshop and paint their own tile (10×10 cm) accordingly. Following the class\, the instructor will glaze and fire the finished works in a kiln. The attendees will be able to collect their work from the Yunus Emre Institute London once they are ready. \nMethods of Teaching: \nThe course will be taught according to the traditional training and the educational model used in Istanbul\, which has remained largely unchanged for hundreds of years. \nRequired Equipment & Materials \nAll materials will be provided by the Institute. \nDisclaimer : \nThe course is taught in English\, but some terminology used may be in Turkish. We recommend you avoid wearing loose clothing\, especially large cuffs and neckties. \nPlease note that the instructor will prepare the kiln after two workshops have been completed at the institute. Consequently\, the glazing and firing processes may take some time. We will notify students once their pieces are ready for collection. \nIMPORTANT! Please understand\, whilst every care is taken in firing your work\, ceramics can be subject to cracking during firing.   \nIf you have any questions or queries\, please direct them to us on londra@yee.org.tr

On the 29th anniversary\, the Yunus Emre Institute London and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK present a special event to commemorate the victims and to reflect on the lessons learned from this tragic chapter in history. \nThe Srebrenica genocide\, which occurred in July 1995\, was the worst atrocity on European soil since World War II. Over 8\,000 Bosniak men and boys were systematically murdered by Bosnian Serb forces in the town of Srebrenica\, a designated UN safe area. This heinous act serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of hatred and intolerance. Our event seeks to honour the memory of those lost and to emphasise the importance of learning from the past to prevent such tragedies in the future. \nThe event will feature a distinguished panel that will provide a comprehensive exploration of the Srebrenica genocide\, its historical context\, and its enduring impact. Key discussion points will include recounting the events and aftermath of the Srebrenica genocide\, examining lessons for the international community and the Muslim Ummah\, discussing the impact on the global Muslim community\, and addressing strategies for preventing future genocides through education\, advocacy\, and cooperation. \nJoin us as we remember the past and commit to a future where such tragedies are not repeated. \nPanellists:  \n– Samra Koricic Mujkic\, Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in London \n– Sami Hamdi\, Managing Director of International Interest \nModerator: \n– Meryem Nur Kucuk\, Researcher and Director of the and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK. \nThis event is a collaboration between the Yunus Emre Institute London and the Muslim Leadership Foundation UK.
