The Yıldız Palace Photography Collection is one the most valuable archives of the 19 century. It was created by direct orders and instructions from Sultan Abdulhamid II according to his interest in photography. The collection with 911 albums is consisted of 36,585 photographs which had been taken all over the part of the Ottoman Empire during the late 19th century and the beginner of the 20th century. In addition to showing different parts of the Ottoman Empire, the collection is one of the most important archives in the world in terms of providing information about many countries and their administrators.
Promoting Sultan Abdülhamid II Yıldız Photography Collection is the main aim of organising this book launch event on ‘The Ottoman-England relationships through Yıldız Photography Collection’ alongside documentary screening and panel discussion.
