Istanbul is a magical city where the East meets the West. With its long history of being at the centre of multiple empires, Istanbul is the world’s fifth popular tourist destination.
In October, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London will organise a five-day field trip to Istanbul offering a wealth of historic and religious places to take in.
The main goal of this trip is to provide practical workshops while visiting important ancient sites and museums such as the Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Sultanahmet and Çamlıca Mosques. Students will be able to analyse the patterns they see on their visits.
Our Illumination/Tezhip Course instructor Nagihan Seymour will be the guide for the trip and will also run the Illumination practical workshops. There will also be workshops for Calligraphy, Paper Marbling and Iznik Ceramics with local masters. In addition to the workshops, there will be visits to renowned masters of the traditional arts. Last year we had the opportunity to visit famed Master Hasan Çelebi as well as Hanifi Dursun and Semiha Beylihan.
The full detailed programme will be shared with registered students before the trip.
