Trafalgar Square is always a hive of activity, and we saw this spike on Saturday 7 May 2022 as the Eid in the Square Festival come back to London for the 17th time. Surrounded by some of London’s most iconic buildings, Yunus Emre Institute London took part in this festive event organised by the London Mayor’s Office by promoting Turkish culture through our brilliant arts! This year the Institute set up a stall in the festival to house exhibitions, sales, demonstrations, and quick workshops by master artists on the traditional arts of Ebru (paper marbling), Tezhip (Art of Illumination), Hüsn-i hat (Calligraphy) and İznik (Ceramics).

Over the years, Eid in the Square Festival has grown to become one of the key cultural highlights of London’s events calendar with over 25,000 attendees taking part over the course of the day! With a great crowd surrounding the stall and fantastic conversations taking place between the festival-goers and the Institute’s team, the day was a phenomenal success!
