Traditional Art Field Trip to Istanbul

From June 6 to June 11, 2024, a traditional art field trip was organised for 19 students, offering them an immersive cultural journey through Istanbul. The trip was focused on exploring Turkiye’s rich heritage, particularly its traditional arts, while visiting the city’s iconic landmarks.

During the field trip, the students had the opportunity to explore historical sites such as the Hagia Sophia Mosque, Sultanahmet, Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum. These visits provided valuable insights into Istanbul’s historical and artistic significance.

In addition to sightseeing, the students participated in workshops dedicated to traditional Turkish arts like calligraphy and Ebru (marbling), where they learned from skilled artisans about these age-old techniques. The field trip allowed the students to connect theory with practice, enhancing their understanding of Turkish culture and traditional art forms.

This enriching experience not only deepened the students’ appreciation for Turkish art but also allowed them to discover the vibrant cultural landscape of Istanbul.
