Turkish carpets that were exported to Europe throughout history seem to have affected the Europeans to a great extent. This interest resulted in the beginning of carpet production in Britain during the 15th and 16th centuries, even though they did not have a tradition of carpet weaving. In the first years, the production was made only by copying Turkish carpets. Later, the British carpet weaving continued to develop and the Ottomans bought English carpets for their courts. In this talk it is intended to review the carpet trade between the Ottoman Empire and Great Britain and its effects to both countries carpet production and design.
