Yunus Emre Enstitusu – London took its place at London Craft Week
Yunus Emre Enstitusu – London contributed to London Craft Week for the second time with an enriched variety of workshops ranging from calligraphy to marbling art.
Yunus Emre Enstitusu – London took part part in the event for the 2nd time. In partnership with London Craft Week 2019, the Institute held fascinating workshops suitable for everyone who wished to learn for either personal or professional reasons.
London Craft Week and the versatile programme aimed to attract a broad audience united in their appreciation of imagination, individuality, passion and skill. A curated programme of events across London allowed visitors to create their own itinerary, meet the artists and gain access to exclusive exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops.
Yunus Emre Enstitusu – London during the festival offered 30 workshops of different arts including Iznik ceramic design, Islamic calligraphy, miniature, illumination, mosaic, and paper marbling that took place at the exhibition hall of the centre.
The Islamic Calligraphy workshops was run by Master Calligraphy Gulnaz Fatima Mahboob who was authorised and classically trained in Istanbul by the renowned Grand Master Hasan Çelebi.
The illumination workshops was mentored by Nagihan Seymour nominated by Woking Art Society and who had been previously authorized by the Grand Illuminator Master Hanifi Dursun. Marbling artist Hayrettin Kozanoglu taught classical marbling techniques. Also, ceramic artist Mustafa Caner Kurt, Mehmet Hakan Demirok for mosaics and Fatos Aslanoglu for miniature ran their workshops between 8-12 May at Yunus Emre Enstitusu-London exhibition hall.
London Craft Week is an annual event that showcases exceptional craftsmanship through a journey-of-discovery programme featuring hidden workshops and unknown makers alongside celebrated masters, famous studios, galleries, shops and luxury brands. It is also celebrating its fifth year for 2019, from 8-12 May.
This year the festival brought together over 240 established and emerging brands, their designers and galleries from around the world.
Participants who joined the workshops by Yunus Emre Enstitusu -London not only experienced the process of creating an artwork but also were able to take their master pieces to home at the end of the study.
