Karagöz & Hacivat Shadow Play is an educational project launched by Yunus Emre Institute in London that aims to promote an understanding and appreciation of Turkish culture as well as establishing a bridge between students coming from different cultural backgrounds.
Karagöz & Hacivat is a traditional Turkish shadow play which performed in a relatively dark hall on an illuminated, white screen. Performer Ada Burke is a British actress, born in Turkey. Since joining Yunus Emre Enstitüsü – London, she has completed her training in Bursa, Turkey and has been performing Karagöz and Hacivat in Turkish and English on behalf of the Institute.
