About the Summer School
Now in its 26th year, the BCLT Summer School is an established and internationally recognised professional development programme for literary translators.
At its core are intensive literary translation workshops, led by experienced translators and editors, working from a wide range of languages into English. Participants engage in close textual analysis, collaborative discussion, and practical translation work in a structured yet supportive environment.
The programme also includes:
- Two creative writing workshops for literary translators
- Plenary panels addressing professional practice and the theory of translation
- Opportunities for networking and informal exchange with translators, editors, authors, and publishers
The Summer School offers a rigorous and intellectually stimulating environment in which translators refine their craft, expand their professional networks, and engage meaningfully with the wider literary translation community.
