Join us in collaboration with Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences for the screening of ‘A Sage in Seclusion’ (Xəlvətdə qalmiş müdrik), a documentary on the life and philosophy of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi (1410–62)

Synopsis:

‘A Sage In Seclusion’ (Xəlvətdə qalmiş müdrik) is a documentary exploring the life and intellectual legacy of the 15th-century Azerbaijani philosopher and prominent Sufi, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi. This unforgettable, remarkable and enigmatic film, introduced by Dr Zorah Aliyeva, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Sorbonne University examines his philosophical and mystical teachings, together with his role in developing the Khalwatiyya order. Viewers will be introduced to the spiritual and humanistic messages of his works, the historical context of his life, and his enduring relevance to the hectic contemporary world.
