Ayse Kaya
Ayşe Kaya, trained as a book conservator at Süleymaniye Manuscript Library and Book Hospital in Istanbul, has a wealth of experience in Islamic manuscript conservation. She has worked with the National Conservation Services on projects at the SOAS Library and the Royal Society of Medicine Archive, contributing her expertise in traditional Ottoman tools and techniques. Currently based in London, Ayşe serves as an Arts and Culture Assistant at Yunus Emre Institute, where she continues to promote Turkish arts and heritage. In her workshops, Ayşe passionately demonstrates Turkish bookbinding ornamentation techniques and guides participants in crafting their own personalised miniature books, fostering a deeper appreciation for this centuries-old art form.
